Wesizwe delays publication of interim results to March next year
Embattled platinum miner Wesizwe has, once again, deferred the publication of its interim financial results for the six months ended June 30 to mid-March next year.
The company says it embarked on a re-audit of its 2024 financial year-end statements to lift the independent auditors’ disclaimers on the statements and, as a result of this additional work, the company anticipates publishing the interim results only later.
The interim results were initially delayed owing to a cybersecurity incident in December last year, which crippled the company’s systems and led to the suspension of Wesizwe’s shares for trading on the JSE.
Wesizwe plans to publish its financial results for the year ended December 31 no later than April 30 next year.
The company is developing the Bakubung mine, in the North West, but has been faced with governance and financial problems, technical problems such as plant defects and protest action since the mine was first due for commissioning in 2018.
